The Orthodox calendar integrates a tapestry of fasts, feasts, scripture readings, and hagiography. Some of these dates, such as Pascha (Easter), change from year to year, while others, such as Christmas, remain fixed. Unlike most Western practices, we continue to follow the Julian calendar. This means that most of our dates, including Christmas, fall 13 days after the same feast on the Western Calendar. An Orthodox lifestyle strives for daily observance of these cycles.
