SEPTEMBER 2026 SERVICE SCHEDULE FOR SAINT PATRICK’S CHAPEL IN CLIFDEN, IRELAND
Our September 2026 service schedule will observe the renewal of the Orthodox calendar year. Orthodox New Year happens on Monday the 14th (September 1 on the Old Calendar). This annual turning of Orthodox fasts and feasts reflect the cyclical nature of the seasons, both in nature and in life. While a simple device, the calendar reflects a profound truth about Orthodox concept of salvation, which does not occur as a singular external event, removed from the context the person’s unique interaction with reality. Just as a marriage includes more than its wedding day, salvation entails a living relationship with God, giving and receiving deeply personal love and attention. Thus, salvation operates on the scale of a human life, over the course of its varied seasons, as a synergistic process of healing and union with God (theosis).
Please note that we will be visiting Saint Colman’s Orthodox Church in Stradbally on the weekend of the 26-27th, which is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross. Apart from that weekend, as always, we welcome guests if they can please contact Mat. Anastasia to arrange a visit.
