Help Develop Orthodox Education in Ireland
We invite Orthodox parents and teachers to join us at a workshop to develop an online Orthodox educational program in Ireland. Saint Patrick Orthodox Mission, along with Dr. Valentina Tarkovska, are organising the event:
- WHEN: 5 pm Friday 28.3 through 2 pm Saturday on 29.3.2025
- WHERE: Monastery of the Life-Giving Spring, Co. Roscommon, N37 Y153.
- CONTACT: Mat. Anastasia +353 (89) 238-2619 matushka@orthodoxpatrick.ie
Topics will include troubleshooting the problems of online learning, available model curriculums, formation of a possible homeschooling cooperative, and potential class structure. If interested in attending, please RSVP to Mat. Anastasia by 13 February, 2025.
Survey of Interest: Online Orthodox Classes
In preparation for the workshop, we are conducting a survey to research how we could best organise an online Orthodox educational program. We welcome anyone to participate. Answers are not binding since we are still researching the possibility. We will present the results of the survey at the upcoming workshop.
Opening Orthodox Education Options
A high-quality Christian education becomes a gateway for students to access their God-given potential. Unfortunately, however, high-quality Christian educations have become difficult to access in this day and age. For this reason, our own bishop, His Grace Bishop Irenei of London & Western Europe, has urgently called for the creation of better Orthodox educational options for children:
I speak of the concern for educating children’s hearts in virtues and piety – a sacred duty which cannot be transgressed without thereby becoming, in a certain sense, guilty of the children’s murder.
Saint John Chrysostom (†407 AD), who relinquished a brilliant education and career in exchange for God. Nicknamed “Chrysostom,” or golden-mouth in Greek, he became one of the greatest Church Fathers, whose words of wisdom continue to shine brightly even today.
